Live at Montmartre – October 2010
Line-up:
Didier Lockwood (violin/France)
Niels Lan Doky (piano/Denmark)
Morten Ramsboel (bass/Denmark)
Niclas Bardeleben (drums/Denmark)
“Last May, shortly after Jazzhus Montmartre’s reopening, Didier Lockwood flew in from Paris and mesmerized us with four intense nights of extreme virtuosity and exaltation, performing with his longtime associate and former Parisian Niels Lan Doky.
The success of these performances immediately called for a return engagement, and finally we succeeded to find an open time gap in Didier’s ultra-busy schedule which is documented on this recording.
He is one of France’s most celebrated and proliIic cultural icons where his reputation transcended all layers of society, he is considered by many to be the greatest violinist in jazz today.
Joining Didier and Niels on stage this time are two of the most exciting musicians in Denmark today, the incredible bassist Morten Ramsbøl and Montmartre’s much raved about house drummer and young prodigy, Niclas Bardeleben.”
